Mandhira Kapoor Speaks on Karishma and Sanjay Kapur’s Divorce: “They Were Together on Honeymoon; Arranging Brother’s Marriage Was My Mistake

The property and family disputes surrounding the late businessman Sanjay Kapur have continued to make headlines since his passing. Amid these controversies, Mandhira Kapoor, Sanjay’s sister and Karishma Kapoor’s former sister-in-law, has consistently defended Karishma and offered insights into the couple’s divorce.

Defending Sanjay Kapur
In a candid discussion on a controversial podcast, Mandhira addressed rumors regarding Sanjay and Karishma’s split. She strongly criticized those labeling her brother a “womanizer” and asked the public to respect his memory. She also refuted claims that Sanjay had treated Karishma poorly during their marriage.

Mandhira said, “He did not mistreat Karishma. Yes, their divorce was painful—divorces are always difficult unless both parties mutually agree or are involved with someone else. My own divorce was terrible. Please, let’s not focus on baseless gossip meant to defame others. Stand with what’s right rather than pointing fingers.”

Revealing the Truth
Mandhira disclosed that Karishma and Sanjay had even spent their honeymoon together. She also expressed regret over her role in convincing their father to arrange Sanjay’s marriage to Priya Sachdev Kapur, saying: “Before marrying my brother, she was one person, but after marriage, she completely changed. I was the one who told my father, ‘If she’s happy, let it be.’ I feel very foolish for doing that.”

Legal Battle Continues
Meanwhile, Samayra and Kiyan Kapur, Sanjay’s children, have filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, alleging that the will submitted by Sanjay’s third wife, Priya Kapur, is fake. After a hearing on 17 November, Joint Registrar Gagandeep Jindal issued a notice to Priya, directing her to respond within three weeks. The matter is now scheduled for 16 December. The plaintiffs claim that the will is fabricated to deprive them of their late father’s property.
