Armed Robbers Attack House in Churu, Woman Held Hostage; Loot Jewelry and Cash Worth ₹25 Lakh

Churu, Rajasthan: In a shocking late-night incident in Bairasar Gumana village, Sadalpur, 7–8 masked armed robbers raided a house, took a 50-year-old woman hostage, and looted jewelry and cash valued at approximately ₹25 lakh. The victim was alone at home when the attack occurred.

Robbers Break In, Threaten with Guns

The victim, Santosh Devi, wife of Tarachand, told police that between 12–1 AM, she heard a noise outside. When she went to investigate, she saw 5–7 intruders breaking into a room. Two of them threatened her with guns and assaulted her, locking her inside. She later attempted to escape through a window but saw four robbers searching the house while others stood guard outside. When she resisted, the robbers dragged her back inside and attacked her again.

Loot Valued at ₹25 Lakh

Santosh Devi explained that her house had around 20 tolas of gold, ₹1.30 lakh set aside for wedding rituals, and approximately ₹35,000 cash in preparation for her brother-in-law’s daughters’ wedding scheduled on 8 November. The robbers collected all valuables and fled under the cover of darkness, leaving a total loss of roughly ₹25 lakh.

Police Respond, Investigation Underway

On receiving information, Thana Officer Rajesh Sihag arrived with a police team to inspect the crime scene. A formal FIR has been registered, and investigations have begun. Surveillance has been intensified in nearby villages and potential escape routes.

The incident has sparked anger among villagers, who demand the prompt arrest of the culprits and strengthened security measures, citing a worrying rise in criminal activities in the region.
