New Delhi: The Delhi Pavilion has emerged as a major attraction at the ongoing Trade Fair, offering visitors a unique blend of culture, commerce, and creativity. On the first day of public access, footfall was modest, with over 30,000 visitors attending, according to ITPO officials. However, crowds are expected to swell in the coming days, especially at popular stalls featuring fabrics, ladies’ suits, sarees, cosmetics, artificial jewelry, and home décor items across Halls 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 12, 14, and 24. The Defense Pavilion, located near Hall 14, also drew significant attention, with visitors taking selfies with military weapons and models.
Mini India Experience Inside Delhi Pavilion
Upon entering Hall 2, the first floor showcases a striking replica of the Red Fort made from wood and cardboard, housing the Delhi Pavilion. Visitors are greeted with a vibrant Mini India experience:
- Rajasthan: Traditional sweets like Gajak
- Shri Nagar: Fabrics and suits
- Gujarat: Bedding, pillows, and sheets
- Tamil Nadu: Snacks and spices
- Karnataka: Tribal oils
Delhi-based businesses are also participating, including Sohail Perfumes from Chawri Bazaar. Stalls feature oils, fabrics, food items, and mind games, while a model of India Gate has become a popular selfie spot.
Foreign Pavilion Attracts Female Shoppers
Hall 1’s ground floor hosts the Foreign Pavilion, which saw a steady crowd, predominantly women. Exhibitors from 12 countries — including Thailand, Dubai, Iran, China, Afghanistan, Korea, Turkey, Egypt, and Tunisia — have set up around 80 stalls, with the largest contingent from Thailand.
- Afghan and Iranian stalls offer dry fruits
- Other stalls feature salwar suits, cosmetics, artificial jewelry, home décor, sweets, and chocolates
Female visitors were particularly drawn to artificial jewelry, decorative items, and fabrics, making the foreign pavilion a hotspot for shopping enthusiasts.
Traffic and Crowd Management Measures
To ensure smooth movement and prevent congestion, Delhi Traffic Police have deployed approximately 250 additional personnel around Pragati Maidan.
- Designated parking areas can accommodate 2,500–3,000 vehicles, with an additional 1,500 spaces in Bhairo Marg basement levels
- Enforcement measures include 15 cranes, 16 motorcycle patrols, and three disaster management vehicles for addressing illegal parking
- Visitors will be guided on entry points and parking locations to maintain seamless traffic flow
The meticulous planning aims to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all Trade Fair attendees while showcasing Delhi’s rich culture and commercial diversity.
